Meena Kandasamy

Meena Kandasamy is a poet, novelist, translator and activist based in Chennai. Her novels include The Gypsy Goddess, When I Hit You (shortlisted for the Women's Prize for Fiction), Exquisite Cadavers and, most recently, Fieldwork as a Sex Object (2026). She has published the poetry collections Touch, Ms Militancy and Tomorrow Someone Will Arrest You, and her translation of the Tirukkural is only the second by a woman in its two-thousand-year history. A Fellow of the Royal Society of Literature and a recipient of the PEN Hermann Kesten Prize, her work has been translated into 27 languages.
