Gokul Rathnakar

Gokul Rathnakar is a social worker, disability rights activist, and lawyer based in Thiruvananthapuram. Following a severe spinal cord injury in a road accident on July 23, 2006, he became a wheelchair user. After a prolonged period of medical treatment and recovery, he completed his LLB and enrolled as an advocate.

Along with fellow wheelchair users, he founded the organization 'CanWalk'. Its primary mission is to provide essential assistive devices and medical aid to wheelchair users across Kerala, driving most of its initiatives and fundraising through social media. He is a staunch advocate for mainstreaming persons with disabilities into society. He manages his own institute and serves as a legal advisor. Beyond short-term financial aid, his specialization centers on long-term rehabilitation, disability law, and comprehensive inclusive development.
