Dr Shaheem S

Dr Shaheem currently serves as Senior Principal Scientist and co-ordinator of Sponsored Projects at the KSCSTE–National Transportation Planning & Research Centre (NATPAC), an R&D institution under the Government of Kerala. He holds a B.Tech in Civil Engineering from Kerala University (1995), a Master’s specialization in Traffic and Transportation Engineering from the College of Engineering, Thiruvananthapuram (1997), and a Ph.D. in Transportation Engineering from the National Institute of Technology, Tiruchirappalli (2024).

With over 27 years of distinguished professional experience in transportation planning and engineering at national and international levels, he has expertise in highway engineering, pavement design, traffic engineering, comprehensive mobility studies, public transport systems, MRTS, and transportation planning.

Dr Shaheem is a Fellow of the Institution of Engineers (India), a life member of the Indian Roads Congress (IRC) and the Transportation Research Group of India (TRG), and a member of the Institute of Urban Transport (India). He served on two IRC Committees, H-1 and G-7. His professional affiliations also extend internationally, with memberships in the Kuwait Society of Engineers and the Institute of Transportation Engineers, USA. He has presented his research at several national and international conferences and has published extensively in indexed journals and peer-reviewed conference proceedings.

He has led Road Safety Audit Teams across India, conducting safety audits of highway sections and PMGSY roads at various stages of design, construction, and operation. He has also held senior positions as a Transportation Engineer with leading international consultancy firms in Kuwait and the UAE, contributing to projects of significant regional importance.
